In this talk, Francesco will discuss the following issues, in practical terms:

  • Who is the new generation of baristas?
  • What is customer service in a third wave coffee shop?
  • How do we most effectively approach coffee shop management?

Francesco’s background as a world barista finalist, a successful business owner, and a trainer of some of the best baristas in the world helps shape his experience. He will share some of his insights, and his approach to cultivating customer service and managing a shop in today’s specialty coffee environment.

Damon will about the history of his roasting business, and what he has recently observed about the developing coffee roasting market in greater China area. This talk will not only cover how to prepare yourself if you’d like to join the coffee roasting business, but it will also cover how to improve your current business model.

Talk Title: Building a Coffee Community

As someone who has helped build the coffee community in Berlin, Cory will take us through his experience there, over the past seven years.  He will explore the related ideas of how a community of professionals drives the consumer community, and how a breakdown in this community impacts the consumer.

Cory will talk about how his experiences in Europe helped shaped the new coffee business he opened in Washington DC. He will also break down the differences between these very distinct, but related, coffee communities.
