Please tell us a little about yourself:

I started working in the coffee industry in 2014 at Cupping Room in Hong Kong. I have competed twice in Hong Kong’s Coffee in Good Spirits Championships, placing 4th on my first attempt and winning my second time. It is my first time to represent Hong Kong on the world stage.

How did you get started in coffee?:

While in culinary school in England, I fell in love with specialty coffee, and upon returning to Hong Kong, I decided to follow my passion into the specialty coffee industry.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

What are you excited to do in Berlin?:

Doing my best on the stage! And also enjoying some good German cocktails, wine, and beer.

What was your first amazing experience with coffee?:

The first really amazing experience I had with coffee was when our champion barista in Cupping Room prepared an espresso for me using Cerro Azul AAA from Granja La Esperanza in Colombia.

Besides your own competition drink, do you have a favorite cocktail?:

I enjoy refreshing gin-based drinks like a gin and tonic, but my most memorable cocktail has to be a classic White Lady by Ueno Hidetsugu of Bar High Five.

What coffee-producing country interests or excites you most?:

Ethiopia – the diversity of flavours and aromatics are always exciting for me.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Besides coffee, I really enjoy spending time with my family and travelling.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCIGS?:

I want to thank all of the team at Cupping Room who have supported me, especially Kapo Chiu, Michael Yung, and of course my wife and family.
