Please tell us a little about yourself:

Apart from loving coffee, I enjoy travelling around the world discovering different cultures and also enjoy eating their local food as well. I also enjoy taking photos of scenery, moments, and portraits.

What are you excited to do in Boston?:

I am excited to check out some of the Historic places in Boston, as it is one of the oldest cities in the United States. I would also like to check out the local food, specialty coffeeshops, and speakeasy bars.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

World Brewers Cup 2017 – 14th Place, Round One
Malaysia Brewers Cup 2017 – Champion
Malaysia Barista Championship 2016 – 2nd Runner Up
Malaysia Aeropress Championship 2014 – 3rd Runner Up

How do you see the coffee industry changing in the future?:

The coffee industry, particularly in Malaysia, is seen to be evolving with local roasters creating specialty drip and immersion bags, allowing customers to brew them easily at their home or the office.

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

In the next 5 years, my goal is to continue growing my existing businesses with my business partners, and also to be a role model to the younger generation of baristas. I also see myself being actively involved in coaching and developing Malaysian baristas in competing in our national championships and the worlds.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I love travelling, food, and photography!

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WBrC?:

First and foremost, I would like to thank my awesome coaches Kent & Jason, for coaching me again this year for the championship. My roaster Yi Yang, who has been absolutely amazing in ensuring our coffees have been roasted to perfection for the championship. I would also would like to thank my life partner Nick, for continuously supporting me in my ups and downs during the preparation of the championship, and for being my pillar of strength. A huge shoutout to my amazing team of baristas in Wizards at Tribeca, Yellow Brick Road, and The Red Beanbag, for supporting me the entire way for my championship. You guys are my stars! Huge thank you to my buddies and business partners Ryan, Kheong, and Lin, for showing me some love for my championship. You guys have been awesome ever since the day I decided to join the team. Last but not least, a big thank you to my family, friends, and also the Malaysian coffee community, as I really appreciate each and every one of you for your tremendous support and love!
