Please tell us a little about yourself:

I consider myself a very passionate, driven and committed person, and I am extremely thankful for having the privilege of being a part of this beautiful industry. I also believe that through specialty coffee we will be able to motivate and encourage young people to continue growing this product that connects us every day.

How did you get started in coffee?:

While working in the corporate world as a consultant, I received a call from my cousin who had recently begun the project that taught me everything I know about coffee. Since then, I have dedicated a significant part of my time to living and understand everything about this beautiful industry.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

2017 Colombian Brewer’s Cup Competition – 1st Place

What are you excited to do while you are in Brazil?:

There are many things I am excited to do in while I am in Brazil. Some of these include: meeting and sharing knowledge with people from all over the world, tasting coffees and new food and sight-seeing.

What was your first amazing experience with coffee?:

My first amazing experience with coffee took place when I started my new job and they gave me a natural Geisha. This was the first time that I tasted acidity in a cup of coffee, the mouth feel was round and creamy, and it had an after taste that lasted for hours.

What is your favorite coffee brewing method and why?:

At the moment V60, because there are many more variables present that allow me to influence the final cup.

What coffee-producing country most interests or excites you?:

Even though I’m tremendously proud of my country from the coffee perspective, as we all know Ethiopia has that magical romance of being the birthplace of coffee and I would love to visit one day.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

Aside from coffee, I enjoy art, sports and spending time with people who are close to me.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?:

In 5 years, I see myself being part of the group that contribute to growing and honouring the specialty coffee industry. I will keep working hard at origin to promote the sustainability of this beautiful product.

I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am without my team and everyone who has shared a coffee conversation with me. Therefore, I’d like to thank them and my family.
