Please tell us a little about yourself:
Hi, I’m Marco. I’ve been a bartender since 1990 and also a barista. 20 years ago I did a coffee training in the Moak Coffee Company, and I’ve also been an SCA barista trainer since 2013. Initially, I started out as a pastry chef, and then a bartender, before being completely overwhelmed by coffee. My passion is going around the world to study coffee and create new cocktails.
How did you get started in coffee?:
Mr. Giovanni Spadola gave me the passion.

Italian Coffee in Good Spirits Competition 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 – 4, 3, 2, 1, 2, 1
2017 Budapest World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship – 10th Place (Round One)
What are you excited to do in Berlin?:
It’s a city I do not know, but I’ll find the time to visit it.
What was your first amazing experience with coffee?:
With Mr. Giovanni Spadola, when I attended my first coffee roasting!
Besides your own competition drink, do you have a favorite cocktail?:
My favorite cocktail is an Old Fashioned.
What coffee-producing country interests or excites you most?:
Venezuela and Colombia.
What are your interests outside of coffee?:
My family, traveling, friends.
Where do you see yourself in five years?:
Still in the world of coffee and cocktails, but maybe in space!
