Please tell us a little about yourself:
Hello! I’m Jani Huusko. I work as a barista in Helsinki, Finland. I love coffee culture and people who work with coffee, we are a huge family. Coffee, art, music, and fashion inspire me to create new things and develop myself. I want to highlight the artistic aspect of coffee.
How did you get started in coffee?:
When I studied I attended a barista course. Then I started to learn more and more about coffee and I got my first barista job. And now I’m here.
Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:
Finnish Latte Art Champion 2019
What are you excited to do in Berlin?:
I want to meet coffee people, see the competition, drink good coffee. Also I want to explore the city.
What is the most unusual vessel you have poured latte art into?:
It’s not my thing to pour latte art into weird things, maybe a bowl…
What is the secret to great latte art?:
Perfect milk foam, clean surface before the patterns, contrast.
What are your interests outside of coffee?:
I really love art, music, fashion, and studying the Russian language.
Where do you see yourself in five years?:
Still in coffee maybe… I don’t usually make these kind of plans.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WLAC?:
I want to thank Urito and Jenni from Cafe Pequeno; Caffi; Cafetoria Roastery; and Jarno for the support. And of course SCA Finland.
