Please tell us a little about yourself:

I am young, Nariñense, 20 year old son in a family that is dedicated to the production of coffee as a tradition, passionate about tasting and the countryside.

How did you get started in coffee?:

The process of training in coffee has been constant throughout my life. I have been cupping for around 4 years.

Please list the coffee competitions you have participated in, what year they took place, and your results:

My most important competition was the 2018 Colombian National Cup Tasters Championship:

Round 1 – 6 correct in an average of 4 minutes.
Round 2 – 6 correct in an average of 4 minutes.
Final – 6 correct  in an average of 3 minutes.

I’ve also taken part in some regional competitions as training for the national championship.

What are you excited to do in Berlin?:

Know and learn as much as I can, it’s my first time out of the country and I want to make the most of it.

What is your favourite coffee to cup?:

The coffee from Colombia without doubt, with it’s unique characteristics, intense acidity and sweetness, make it my favorite coffee. It’s from the hard work of our coffee growers, that every day we can bring a good cup of coffee to our table.

What are your interests outside of coffee?:

I would like very much to work towards a professional career, in this case agronomy.

Where do you see yourself in five years?:

As a Q-grader, and continuing with the same energy to help my coffee growers.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or recognize, or who helped you to prepare for the WCTC?:

Firstly I definitely have to thank my teachers, the Asprounión family, who trained me to cup and made my participation in the national championship possible. I’d also like to thank Cooperativa De Caficultores Del Norte De Nariño LTDA, as they gave me the opportunity to practice as a taster and to expand my knowledge.
