World Coffee Events (WCE) is pleased to announce improvements to and expansion of the WCE Judges Certification Committee (JCC) Workshops to include four new WCE Competitions and continued support of the World Barista Championship. Candidates will have the opportunity to Certify as Judges for all WCE Competitions that utilize Judges. The WCE JCC Workshops will now allow participants to qualify to judge in the World Latte Art Championship, World Coffee In Good Spirits Championship, World Czeve/Ibrik Championship, World Brewers Cup, in addition to the World Barista Championship.
The opportunity to qualify as a judge for up to five WCE competitions in one setting provides judges the opportunity to achieve a higher degree of professional development than ever before in the WCE organization, and also allows Certified Judges the opportunity to celebrate this achievement throughout the year and not just at each individual event. The service and skill that qualified Judges provide to each of the WCE Competitions is an essential component of the success of the WCE Competitions, and ensures WCE’s continued ability to deliver fair and professional events that elevate and support the barista craft and the mission of specialty coffee.
Over the course of two days and under the guidance of WCE Committee Leadership, JCC Workshop participants undergo evaluation in a series of performance-based and written tests specifically designed to measure a potential judges’ suitability to succeed as a judge in the WCE Competitions.
